Sable Bernedoodles, also known as sable tri-color Bernedoodles, are among the most stunning and popular Bernedoodle color breeds in the world. They’re valued for their unique, one-of-a-kind coat, as well as their child-friendly personalities, intelligence, and long lifespans.
As the name suggests, sable Bernedoodles are born with tri-colored coats of black, red, brown, cream, or white. This brief article discusses everything you need to know about sable tri-color Bernedoodles, including personality, temperament, and more.
Sable Tri-Color Bernedoodle Appearance
The Bernedoodle is a cross between the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Poodle. While they’re a relatively recent hybrid, they’re quickly rising in popularity due to their gorgeous appearance, temperament, and intelligence.
‘Sable tri-color’ is used to describe the Bernedoodle’s coat color. At an early age, their tri-colored coats are more visible, but as they grow, it becomes less and less pronounced.
Sable Bernedoodle puppies are usually born in solid black or phantom colors, and eventually turn into sable: a mix of smokey quartz grey and metallic copper bronze.
Sable Bernedoodles have large, squarish faces with short muzzles. Their ears are round and long, similar to that of Bernese Mountain dogs. They have thick, medium-sized bodies with wide, deep chests and medium-length legs.
Depending on the genes inherited, sable Bernedoodles may have straight, wavy, or curly coats. Bernedoodles with straight coats are few and far in between. Most have wavy or “in-between” wavy and curly coats. All three variants are more or less medium in length.
Tri-colored Bernedoodles are the most in-demand and, as a result, the most expensive. Other Bernedoodle colors include black, brown, black and brown, and black and white.
Sable Tri-Color Bernedoodle Size
Sable Bernedoodles usually come in two sizes: standard and miniature.
Standard sable Bernedoodles weigh anywhere between 60-90 pounds and measure about 23-29 inches at the shoulder. Miniatures, on the other hand, weigh about 30-50 pounds and measure 18-22 inches at the shoulder.
Smaller variations, while rare, also exist. They go by names such as Petite, Tiny, or Toy.
Tiny Bernedoodles are a cross between 25% Bernese Mountain dog and 75% Mini Poodle. Tiny and Toy Bernedoodles are a cross between 25% Bernese Mountain dog, 25% Mini Poodle, and 50% Toy Poodle.
